LiveKit's open-source framework for realtime voice and video AI agents over WebRTC. Agents join LiveKit rooms as participants with built-in voice-activity detection, turn detection, interruption handling, and tool calling; plug in any STT/LLM/TTS stack or speech-to-speech models (OpenAI Realtime, Gemini Live). Scales on LiveKit Cloud or self-hosted LiveKit server, with telephony (SIP) support for phone agents. Powers production voice experiences including major consumer assistants. Best for teams that need carrier-grade realtime infrastructure under their agents. Limitation: heavier infrastructure footprint than pure-pipeline frameworks when you only need a simple voice bot.
